H.E. Jean-Claude Gakosso paid an official visit to Vienna

Vienne, 10 juillet 2025 – À l’occasion du 9ᵉ séminaire de l’Organisation des pays exportateurs de pétrole (OPEP), qui s’est tenu du 9 au 10 juillet 2025 au palais impérial de la Hofburg à Vienne, le Consulat honoraire de la République du Congo en Autriche s’est illustré par son engagement diplomatique actif, son rôle de facilitateur et sa présence remarquée sur la scène internationale.

Un événement d’envergure dans la capitale autrichienne

Organisé sous le thème « Tracer ensemble les voies de l’avenir : le futur de l’énergie mondiale », ce séminaire a rassemblé des ministres de l’Énergie, des représentants d’organisations internationales, des chefs d’entreprise et des experts venus du monde entier. La République du Congo, pays membre de l’OPEP, a participé aux débats stratégiques sur l’avenir du secteur énergétique mondial.

Un rôle central pour le Consulat du Congo à Vienne

Tout au long de l’événement, le Consulat honoraire de la République du Congo en Autriche, dirigé avec professionnalisme et dévouement par Monsieur le Consul honoraire, Martin Litschauer, a assuré une présence diplomatique constante. Le Consulat a contribué à la coordination des échanges entre délégations et a facilité les rencontres bilatérales en marge du séminaire.

Cette représentation consulaire joue un rôle essentiel dans le renforcement des relations diplomatiques entre la République du Congo et l’Autriche, mais aussi avec les autres pays accrédités dans la région. Grâce à son action, le Congo continue de valoriser ses intérêts stratégiques dans un cadre diplomatique stable et constructif.

Une rencontre bilatérale avec le vice-président du Venezuela

Dans le cadre de ce séminaire, le Consulat a également facilité une rencontre bilatérale de haut niveau entre la délégation congolaise et la vice-présidente de la République bolivarienne du Venezuela, Madame Delcy Rodríguez. Cet échange a permis d’aborder les perspectives de coopération énergétique Sud-Sud, dans un esprit de solidarité, d’amitié et de développement partagé.

Les discussions ont porté sur les enjeux communs liés à la production pétrolière, à la stabilité des marchés et à la nécessité de défendre les intérêts des pays producteurs dans un monde en pleine transition énergétique. La médiation et l’accompagnement de Monsieur le Consul honoraire, Martin Litschauer, ont permis d’assurer le bon déroulement de cette rencontre diplomatique.

Une diplomatie de proximité au service du Congo

Le séminaire de l’OPEP 2025 a une nouvelle fois démontré l’importance d’une représentation consulaire dynamique et proactive à Vienne. Le Consulat honoraire de la République du Congo s’y affirme comme un relais indispensable pour promouvoir les priorités du pays, accompagner les délégations officielles et renforcer les liens économiques, politiques et culturels avec l’Autriche et les institutions internationales basées à Vienne.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Congo, H.E. Jean-Claude Gakosso, paid an official visit to Vienna, Republic of Austria, from 16 to 18 March 2023. The visit aimed to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries and to explore new areas of cooperation, especially in the fields of energy, trade, culture, and education.

During his stay in Vienna, Minister Gakosso met with his Austrian counterpart, H.E. Alexander Schallenberg, and discussed various regional and international issues of mutual interest. They reaffirmed their commitment to multilateralism and the rule of law and expressed their support for the United Nations and its specialized agencies. They also exchanged views on the situation in Africa, particularly in the Great Lakes region and the Central African Republic, where the Republic of the Congo plays an active role in promoting peace and stability. The fight against terrorism and extremism, the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and the Paris Agreement on climate change, was also discussed.

In addition, Minister Gakosso visited the headquarters of OPEC (Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries) and met with its Secretary General, H.E. Haitham Al Ghais He conveyed his appreciation for OPEC’s efforts to stabilize the global oil market and to ensure a fair price for oil producers and consumers. He also reiterated his country’s adherence to OPEC’s decisions and policies.

On March 17, H.E. Jean-Claude Gakosso had a meeting with the CTBTO Executive Secretary Dr. Rob Floyd, in Vienna on 17.03.2023 at 11:00 to express the Republic of the Congo’s support in international peace and security.

That same day, Minister Gakosso and his delegation held talks with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), H.E. Rafael Mariano Grossi, and thanked him for his support to the Republic of the Congo in developing its nuclear energy program for peaceful purposes. He expressed his interest in enhancing cooperation with the IAEA in areas such as health, agriculture, and water management.

The day ended with another official visit. This time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Jean-Claude Gakoss, together with other members of the delegation, visited the Consulate of the Republic of the Congo in Austria, led by Consul Litschauer Martin.

The visit of Minister Gakosso to Vienna was a success and marked a new milestone in the friendly and fruitful relations between the Republic of the Congo and the Republic of Austria. Both sides expressed their commitment to further enhance their cooperation for the benefit of their peoples and the world.
