FAUNA
Looking at the wildlife of this African region, we can say that it is made up of a diversifying number of organisms. In that light, the animal count is as follows; four hundred mammal species, one thousand birds, as well as ten thousand plants in which just three thousand out of them are unique to the Republic of The Congo. Also, a high proportion of this country’s surface area is surrounded by the tropical rain forest, whereas the Southern zone has been ridded due to logging. It is precisely the large variety of fauna found in its forest made the Congo River Basin to gain the world’s reputation.
Taking into consideration the modalities of this region, which is greatly characterized by the tropical rainforest, it is divided into a few portions. The first layer is covered with evergreen trees having very low-lying branches which is accompanied by miniature trees and shrubs, and the final category are the ferns and under grow that the ground level. Also, the top soils saturated with vines, roots, and ferns forming a warp, causing it to pass in between plants of varied family.
With roughly 69% of the country’s surface area, there is a total of three different subcategories in existence. This group is further composed of 73 separate species which are peculiar to the inhabitants of the Sub-Saharan Africa with emphasis on the Republic of Congo.
ENDEMIC FAUNA
This species is subdivided into 53 categories, having varying disparities as far as their domain is concerned.
INVERTEBRATES
The class insects are the only set of breeds found in this group with over fifty-three classifications.
VERTEBRATES
Here, we have a large majority of species which amounts to four distinct colonies such as the Amphibians, Fish, Mammals, and Reptiles. Based on carefully studied surveys from expert scientists from the Wildlife Conservation Society, the general occupants are said to be calculated around 125,000 lowland Western gorillas. Given the unkind gestures caused by the swampiness of the forest, created the vast isolation of these animals living far away from the human communities. To further dissect this group of mammals, five are considered to be endangered species; nine are vulnerable, while the existence of four is being threatened. Another variety of animals are the fish who have a circle of over seven hundred species.
In general, we can see that this unique species of wildlife is reserved to a particular sector far away from the humans due to the bad nature of the rainforest which is considered as their home. Also, without protection by necessary authorities to preserve these animals, their lineage will be wiped out if care is not taken. There is still a long way to go before reaching a sustainable. Fortunately, the first steps have been taken.
