While the conditions present in the Republic of Congo make it for a challenging business environment, plenty of opportunities do exist. And the country is always open to foreign investment. For those considering doing business there, some of the main opportunities could be:
Petroleum

This industry has become the main source of revenue for the country. And natural gas is often converted directly into electricity, substantially improving energy prospects.
Agriculture

This is the area that has most potential for development, as the country has 80 million hectares of arable land. The soil is fertile for a wide variety of crops, such as coffee, palm oil, rubber, cotton, sugar, tea, cocoa, cassava, plantains, maize, groundnuts, and rice; which all tend to grow fast and well.
ICT

Competition on the mobile telephone market is scarce; the two major companies are MTN and AIRTEL, which dominate the market, while AZUR and CONGO TELECOM are left with a marginal role. The main internet providers are AMC, WIFLY, MTN, AIRTEL and CONGO TELECOM, the latter being the only optic fiber provider in the country.
Mining

Currently, only small-scale domestic operations are present. The country is believed to have large reserves of diamonds, gold, iron ore, copper ore, potash and phosphate, amongst many other things.
Timber

The Republic of Congo is one of the nine countries which hold part of the territory known as the Congo Basin, which consist of rich tropical rainforests and swamps. Overall the country holds around 20829481 million hectares consisting of forests.

Tourism

Congo Brazzaville’s cultural diversity is something worth checking out on its own. However, the country also hosts some of the most stunning natural wonders the world has to offer. And is home of over 1000 types of plants, over 300 species of birds, the African Forest Elephant, and the Western Lowland Gorilla, just to name a few; which make the country ideal for birdwatching and photography-safaris.
