Imports

As a developing country, the Republic of the Congo main imports consists of finished products instead of row materials. According to the data provided by the Central Bank, in the last decade the rates have been fluctuating from year to year, and it reached a record pick of 14972.7 USD Million in 2018. After that, the tendency has been on the low, dropping considerably to 12942.70 USD Million in 2019, and then to 11865.30 USD in 2020. Unfortunately, due to reasons attributed to the pandemic, the Central Bank is yet to release the corresponding reports for the last year and the first semester of 2022. Nevertheless, the tendency seems to continue.

The Republic of the Congo primary sources of import are superpowers such as China and the US, which in 2020 were the origin of 25% and 21% of the total annual importation respectively, yet they also import commodities from other countries of the same region, such as South Africa (9.2 %), Zambia (4.9%) and India (4.7%), as well as some belonging to the Middle East, Europe and the Americas.
