Visa Situation

At this time, all passengers travelling to the Republic of Congo must have received a visa through a diplomatic mission, prior to their travel, and must have had a vaccination for yellow fever at least 10 days before the day of arrival. Contrary to previous arrangements, it is no longer possible to issue a visa upon arrival.

The following documentation is required for those who want to apply:

1) A passport valid for more than six months.
2) Two passport photos
3) Multiple copies of either an invitation letter should a sponsor be covering the stay in Congo, or hotel reservations
4) Photocopies of travel itineraries or airline tickets
5) Proof of legal residence
6) The yellow fever vaccination must be verified by a card issued by the World Health Organization
7) A completed application in two copies
8) A prepaid envelope with a tracking number for the return of the stamped passport
9) The appropriate process fees which vary depending on the country of residence

IT TAKES BETWEEN 7 AND 10 WORKING DAYS TO APPROVE A VISA.
So it is highly recommended that requests are made well in advance of the day of arrival.

There are three types of visas:

1) Tourist visas are valid for 90 days and allow for multiple trips in and out of the country during this period
2) Business visas are valid for 30 days. Should there be a need for such a visa then additional documentation notarized by a local authority should be presented about the purpose of the visit to the Republic of Congo.
3) Diplomatic/Official Visas are issued for 12 months for people holding diplomatic passports or for those who travel for official business matters, and are exempt from all visa fees.

It is strongly recommended to contact the representative of the Republic of Congo in your country should there be any updated information or further details to become aware of.
